Who we are

Kitsite is a London-based company focused on web application development and content management.

The company was founded in April 2000 by the core technical team responsible for the development of the award-winning Guardian Unlimited network of sites.

As well as developing content management, peer production and search applications, the Kitsite team has expertise across a broad range of disciplines, including information architecture, application integration and online strategy.

Our staff

michael
Michael Kowalski
Michael became interested in web user interfaces while working for the Guardian newspaper on the launch of their award winning website. He's been working and innovating in the field ever since. He co-founded Kitsite, and is responsible for our product and user experience design.
kieran-1
Kieran Topping
Kieran’s experience spans a range of industries including professional audio and video editing, banking and online transaction systems, and—more recently—web publishing during three years at the Guardian. Kieran is our chief technical officer.
jamie
Jamie Unwin
Jamie has been building websites and working with internet-related technologies since joining Webmedia in 1996. He later joined the Guardian and was fundamental in the development of Guardian Unlimited, before co-founding Kitsite.
aanand
Aanand Prasad
Since he joined Kitsite in 2006, Aanand has been making himself useful with client-side wizardry. He knows an unhealthy amount about CSS and web standards, but is also a dab hand with Ruby, Java, PHP and XSLT.
marna
Marna Gilligan
Marna has been developing website and backend web interfaces for Kitsite since joining us late in 2006. She likes cats, in a slightly unhealthy way.
Simon Liu
Simon Liu
Simon joined Kitsite in 2007 as a systems admin/developer, shortly after completing a computer science degree at university. He isn't Scottish, but he likes the hats they sell to gullible tourists.
Lars
Lars Bortfeldt
Lars joined Kitsite late 2007 and is working on client-side development and site implementation, with excursions into PHP when pressed.
